Cleanliness · Environmental Protection · Sustainable Development
🌱 Introduction
Scientific waste management is essential for protecting public health and preventing environmental pollution. Waste generated from households, institutions, commercial establishments and public places must be segregated at source and managed in an environmentally friendly manner.
The local self-government institutions under Edappally Block Panchayat promote cleanliness and proper waste management with the support and coordination of Haritha Karma Sena, Kudumbashree, Suchitwa Mission, Haritha Kerala Mission and other concerned local government institutions.
♻️ Segregation of Waste
Segregating waste at source makes collection, treatment and recycling more effective.
Biodegradable Waste
Food leftovers, vegetable waste, leaves and garden waste. These can be treated through suitable methods such as composting and biogas systems.
Non-Biodegradable Waste
Plastic, paper, metal and glass should be segregated, kept clean and handed over to authorised collection systems for recycling and further processing.
Special Waste
Batteries, electronic waste, bulbs, sanitary waste and household hazardous waste must be handled separately through appropriate collection and disposal systems.
Construction Waste
Waste generated during building construction, renovation and demolition must be disposed of legally. It should never be dumped in public places or water bodies.
